Plugin Overview
WordPress plugins are pieces of software that can be installed on a WordPress website to add new features and functionality. They can be thought of as add-ons or extensions that enhance the capabilities of WordPress.
Plugins are created by developers and can be found in the WordPress plugin directory or from third-party sources. They can be installed and activated with just a few clicks from the WordPress dashboard.
There are over 59,000 free WordPress plugins available in the official plugins directory. Additionally, thousands of premium WordPress plugins are sold by third-party companies and developers. Therefore, it is likely safe to say that the total number of WordPress plugins is over 70,000.
PRO TIPS
Using too many plugins can slow down your website and affect its performance negatively. The number of plugins you should use depends on the size and complexity of your website, as well as the quality of the plugins.
It is recommended to not install like 40 or even 50 plugins at once (I don't have the exact number of plugins need to be installed as this depends on your hosting performance and resources) and only use the ones that are essential to your website's requirements. It is also important to be careful when choosing the plugins to use. Plugins developed by unqualified developers or poorly coded plugins can cause your website to slow down or crash. Always research the plugin and its developer before installing it on your website. Check reviews and ratings from other users, and make sure the plugin is regularly updated and compatible with your WordPress version.
Here's another important thing, please don't install nulled, cracked or so-called GPL plugins that are easily obtained from the internet on your website. I've seen how it can go wrong, like hacked sites to stolen customer info.
Always get your plugins straight from the original developers. If money is tight and you need a better deal, watch my video in the next module. It's called "Where to Find Free Templates for Elementor?". You'll learn how to get cheaper, original plugins from an agency or a person that owns the license. The essential part is getting plugins that can auto-update and have a legitimate license.
Top 10 Essential / Must-Have Plugins that are FREE
I have listed some of the recommended free plugins to be installed. They are not completely FREE, as some of them are FREEMIUM. But it’s worth to check out what free features they offer.
1. E-commerce Plugin - Woocommerce
In the world of WordPress, it’s hard to not hear about woocommerce. Currently, it’s the most dominant e-commerce plugin for WordPress for very good reasons. It has tons of integration with the plugins which makes it the go to solution for selling anything using WordPress.
2. Funnel Plugin - WPFunnel or Cartflow or FunnelKit
WPFunnel and CartFlow are both powerful funnel plugins that help businesses guide their customers through a seamless purchasing journey. By creating upsell and downsell funnels, businesses can increase their revenue and provide a better customer experience.
Businesses can easily create customizable funnels that integrate with their existing WordPress site and WooCommerce store. This allows for a seamless transition from browsing to purchasing, with targeted upsell and downsell offers along the way.
However, for my own website, unlockmethod.com, I prefer using FunnelKit. The primary reason behind this choice is its precise ads tracking capability. With FunnelKit’s free version, I don’t need to install additional conversion tracking tools, such as pixelyoursite plugin, since the ads tracking features are already sufficient for my needs.
3. SMTP Plugin - FluentSMTP
Many WordPress site owners struggle with email deliverability and are constantly searching for affordable solutions to improve their email marketing efforts.
One popular solution is to use email delivery services such as Amazon SES or Mailgun, which offer advanced features for improving email deliverability rates. However, in order to connect your WordPress site to these services, you need a plugin that can manage your SMTP settings.
That’s where FluentSMTP comes in. This free plugin makes it easy to manage your SMTP settings and connect your WordPress site to any email delivery service. With FluentSMTP, you can improve your email deliverability rates and avoid getting flagged as spam.
I will release another tutorial soon on how to connect your website to Amazon SES
4. Best Page Builder - Elementor
Now, I don’t want to start a page builder battle here, but let’s face it, Elementor is the King of page builder. With its vast array of integrations and features, it’s no wonder it’s a favorite among users.
Seriously, though, the popularity of Elementor can be attributed to its ability to seamlessly integrate with a ton of other tools and platforms. And with so many users, there’s a huge community of resources to help you get the most out of this powerhouse page builder.
In fact, many of the features that are locked in the pro version can be covered by add-ons or other free plugins, making it possible to create a high-quality website without breaking the bank. And because Elementor is so widely used, there are plenty of tutorials and resources available to help you master the platform and take your website to the next level.
So whether you’re a seasoned web designer or just getting started with WordPress, Elementor is definitely worth checking out as a powerful and versatile page builder. With its wide range of integrations and features, it’s a great tool for creating custom websites and landing pages that stand out from the crowd.
5. Best Email Marketing - Nill
It’s not recommended to run email marketing directly from your website. Outsourcing to a specialized provider or solution like GetResponse, Brevo, and Mailchimp is better options to avoid potential website slowdowns and negative impacts on the sender’s reputation if something goes wrong (spam reports accumulate/being flagged by ISP),
6. Best Security Plugin - iThemes Security
iThemes Security (formerly known as Better WP Security) is a popular security plugin for WordPress that helps protect websites from various security threats.
7. Best SEO Plugin - Yoast
Yoast is a popular WordPress plugin that can help optimize your website for search engines. With Yoast, you can analyze your content and get suggestions for how to improve it so that it ranks better in search results. This plugin offers features such as keyword analysis, readability checks, and meta tag optimization. Yoast is easy to install and use, making it a great tool for website owners and bloggers who want to improve their search engine rankings without having to be SEO experts. Overall, Yoast is a helpful tool that can improve the visibility of your website and attract more visitors.
8. Best CDN Plugin - BunnyCDN
Bunny CDN is not FREE, and it’s not actually just a plugin. It is an affordable and speedy solution to improve the speed of delivering your website content globally. It’s a content delivery network that caches and distributes your content across multiple servers worldwide. Generally, you will only be charged what you use, which is $0.01 – 0.06/GB of content delivered (depending on the regions you chose), plus a fixed $1 bill per month. It’s a great tool to enhance your website speed without compromising your budget. Give Bunny CDN a try and see the difference it makes.
9. Best Backup Plugin - Nill
Just want to point out something here, I remember a few years ago, we used to have tons of useful backup plugins in the market. And in fact, they still exist to this day. It’s just that hosting has become so much more reliable and user-friendly that we can manage and schedule our backups effortlessly from the hosting side, without using a plugin.
10. Best Caching Plugin
When it comes to optimizing the speed of your WordPress website, there are a variety of plugins available that can help improve performance. However, the best caching plugin for your website can depend on a number of factors, including your hosting provider and server infrastructure.
For instance, if you’re using 10web as your hosting provider, it’s recommended to use their 10web booster plugin for website speed optimization. This plugin is specifically designed to work with their hosting infrastructure and can help improve website load times and overall performance.
On the other hand, if you’re using a litespeed server, litespeed cache is the recommended plugin for optimizing your website’s speed. This plugin is designed to work seamlessly with litespeed servers, and can help improve website performance and reduce server load.

Which is the difference between the 2 services that they provide, one is PAGE SPEED BOOSTER and the other one is PLATFORM, how to know which we should pick.
Hi Raul, good question. Page Speed Booster is for those who host their WordPress website with another hosting provider, while the platform itself includes hosting and Page Speed Booster as part of a single package in their offerings. If you wanted to use the AI builder, you should opt for the platform package 🙂
So if I choose page speed booster it means I have to have 2 hosting
to clarify, speed booster package does not include 10Web hosting, the AI builder is only available for the platform itself
